Support Group for
Low Vision/Blind Adults

The Milford Senior Center is looking for low vision/blind adults.

Residents from surrounding towns are also welcome, but would need to provide their own transportation to the center.

Topics for discussion will include chores and routines; locating organizations that sell devices that can lead to increased independence and better communications; sharing common concerns, frustrations, and stories; and finding solutions to vision-related difficulties. This support group can make daily living easier. Low vision or blindness does not have to stop us from living.

Book Club Review

September's discussion of Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult was intense as the book dealt with timely, sensitive issues about race, privilege, and loss of a child. Brit and Turk are white supremacists who have a newborn son with an undetected medical condition. They demand that Ruth Jefferson, a black labor and delivery nurse not be allowed to care for their child. An emergency arises where Ruth is the only nurse with the baby who later dies. A court battle ensues. Told in alternating narration and flashbacks, the book sparked a discussion that barely scratched the surface.11 people attended.

Written by Anne Berard

The next book discussion will be on Tuesday, November 21 at
10:00 am. "All My Puny Sorrows", by author Miriam Toews.
